A conversation with director Mathias Allary about his debut film FRANTA.

SYNOPSIS
As a young soldier, Franta (Jan Kurbjuweit) experiences a war that destroys hope and life. The memories of Mascha, his young wife (Nicole Ansari), merge with the relentlessness of his surroundings. Franta is seriously injured in the abdomen during an attack and when he wakes up in the military hospital, people laugh at "the man whose manhood has been shot away". Franta is consequently discharged from military service and returns to his wife Masha injured and traumatized.
